http-equiv Attribute

Where to use the http-equiv Attribute

  • As Type NMTOKEN:
http-equiv is declared on the element: meta

Description

The http-equiv attribute may be used instead of the name attribute on the meta element. Its value should be the name of a HTTP header (e.g. "Content-Type", "Content-Style-Type", "Content-Script-Type") and its presence states that the value of the content attribute is intended to mimic that HTTP header (as if that header had been sent directly from the server). This behaviour can be useful to specify headers for those documents which are not being served by a web server.
